Diem, age 5
I was only 15 months old when my mother died from HIV, so I do not really remember her. My father is a drug addict and has HIV too. He goes to jail a lot for stealing and fighting. When he is home, he is often sick and cannot look after me, so I live with my grandmother now.
My family is very poor. My grandmother is old and can only do casual labor. It is very difficult for us; we do not get any support from the government and don't have enough money to buy me milk. When I was 5 years old, my grandmother asked the kindergarten if I could attend. After 1 week, the teacher found out that my mother died from HIV and she did not let me go to class anymore. Now I go to another kindergarten and I am very happy because I can go to school. I like school and enjoy playing with my friends. I always do as the teacher asks me to and regularly get 10/10. My life is very pitiful, because I have this disease. I wish you could help me to be happy and healthy. By sponsoring Diem you can help us give her a better healthier life and brighter future by:
