Duyen lives with her mother in a vacant hero’s mother’s house owned by the government. It is a small simple house, but since no one else in the community needed it they are able to live there rent-free. Her mother’s parents are part of the community and able to support and protect them.
Duyen’s father is dead, but lived far away anyway. Her mother contracted HIV from her husband and was very distressed when she found out that she and Uyen also have the disease. When VNHIP first met Duyen in 2011, she had just started treatment. She would often cry, because she was tired from the side effects of the medication. Duyen now goes to kindergarten, she is healthy and doing well. The community does not know that they have HIV and Duyen’s mother worries that they would loose their home and become isolated if they found out. By sponsoring Duyen you can help us give her a better healthier life and brighter future by:
